How psychotherapy and counselling can help: processing and finding meaning

You will be less likely to repeat destructive patterns and less burdened by what you 'carry' unnecessarily. You become more pro-active and more in charge of your life. This is what my experience of psychotherapy and counselling has demonstrated to me as a client myself.
Psychotherapy and counselling can help you to make sense of your past and present story. You are accompanied by a trained professional who will listen to you without judging. The therapist will go with you on this journey which is about processing 'stuck' feelings and understanding their previously hidden meanings. This is also about helping you to reassess and question old fixed thoughts, ideas and prejudices inherited from your upbringing.
Friends and family are not always available to talk to, and you probably don’t want to burden them with dark thoughts and feelings that may have devastating effects and jeopardise your relationship with them.
